Kamala Harris

 Kamala Devi Harris is an American politician. Born on October 20, 1964, she was the 49th Vice President of the United States. Kamala Devi Harris is the first female to be elected vice president, and is also the most powerful female officer in the history of America. Being a part of the Democratic Party, she was the former attorney general of California between 2011 and 2017 and was an United States senator representing California from 2017 to 2021. Harris was born in Oakland. Harris received her law degree from Howard University. Following her first job as an Alameda County District Attorney Harris was hired to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. In the following years, she was the City Attorney of San Francisco. In 2003 she was appointed district attorney for San Francisco. She was appointed Attorney General of California in 2010, and was elected again in 2014. Harris was the junior United States Senate from California from 2017 to 2021. Harris beat Loretta Martinez in 2016's Senate election, becoming the 2nd African American woman and first South Asian American senator to be elected to the United States Senate. She was a senator and was a vocal advocate for reforms to healthcare as well as federal cannabis de-scheduling a pathway to citizenship for undocumented immigrant immigrants and the DREAM Act, a ban against assault weapons and progressive tax reform. She gained a national profile due to her sharp questions of Trump administration officials in Senate hearings, including Trump's second Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, who was accused of assault on a woman.
